Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 June 2026

The Hunting App (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

The Hunting App is offline-first. Your map data and location never leave your device. The only information we receive is basic diagnostic data used to keep the app stable.

Information that stays on your device and is never sent to us:

  • Map data you create in the app, including waypoints, tracks, routes, notes and photos you choose to attach.
  • Location data captured by your device while you have GPS tracking enabled. Tracking is opt-in and can be stopped at any time.

Information we receive:

  • Device and diagnostic information (model, operating system, app version, crash logs) used to fix bugs and improve stability.

2. How we use your information

  • Your waypoints, tracks and other map data are stored and used entirely on your device to provide the app’s features.
  • Diagnostic and crash data is used to find and fix bugs and improve the app’s stability.

3. Location data

The Hunting App currently operates entirely offline. Your location and map data stay on your device and are not uploaded to our servers. We do not sell your location data, and we do not disclose it to advertisers, other users or any other third party.

4. Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not disclose it to third parties or to other users. The map data you create, including waypoints, tracks, routes, notes and photos, stays on your device and is never shared with us, other users or anyone else.

The only exception is where we are required to disclose information by Australian law, a court order, or to protect the safety of a user or the public.

If we introduce features that share data, such as cloud sync or sharing with members of a hunting party, that sharing will always be something you choose to turn on. We will update this policy and explain it clearly before any such feature becomes available.

5. Data storage and security

Your map data and location stay on your device and are protected by your device’s own security. Diagnostic data is sent over an encrypted (TLS) connection. We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure, but no system is completely secure.

6. Your rights

You can:

  • Keep full control of your map data, which stays on your device. You can remove it at any time by deleting the app or clearing its data in your device settings.
  • Disable diagnostic reporting through your device settings.
  • Make a complaint about how we handle your information. We will respond within a reasonable time.

7. Children

The Hunting App is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16 without parental consent.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we add features that change how your information is collected, used or shared, for example cloud sync, notifications or sharing with a hunting party, we will show you the changes in the app before those features take effect, so you can review them. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.

9. Contact

Questions, access requests or complaints can be sent to hunt@thehuntingapp.com.au.
